If you are old or young it does not matter when it comes to social media, you can teach and learn anything you want that's the beauty of social media if you look at the positive side. People come on social media to enjoy their time and to learn, focus on that and you are good to go, if you can provide quality work and knowledge to people you can grow faster than you imagine.
If you are trying to be pro in the first attempt then it is not going to happen, take it easy and slow down, and understand the platform and its sole purpose, age is just a number. If your kid wants to start doing youtube let them do it, it will help them to get experience and closure to decide what they really want to do when they grow up but tell them the reality before they start and try to give them the knowledge and exposure they need to get before doing it, do not just buy them the types of equipment they need for their setup it is not going to help.
children these days are smart and get exposed to social media at a very young age so they are already halfway to understanding this world, but they can be immature and sensitive and make decisions without knowing the facts so it is your responsibility to monitor them and guide them, help them for achieving their dream. It is not harmful to let them start youtube if you do it correctly it is great. It can also be an activity you and your child do together or make a discussion with them to build a close bond with them, kids like it when they can talk and share their life freely and comfortably with parents.

There are so many tips I want to share with you but going slow and taking small steps is not that bad. competition is high but no one becomes successful overnight, everyone starts from zero, so do not be too hard on your self or you can lose interest or can feel overwhelmed and it is not good for your creativity because if you want to excel in social media or youtube you should enjoy your own work first keep that in mind.
